Kosovo Albanians protest

KOSOVSKA KAMENICA, Thursday -- About 2,000 Albanians last night protested in Kosovska Mitrovica against the presence of Russian KFOR troops, according to Beta. The protesters marched to the Russian army base in the town where they stoned two Russian army vehicle. The protesters, many of whom wore KLA insignia, shouted anti-Russian and pro-KLA slogans. Protest organisers claimed that they were local, civilian Albanians who were not members of the KLA. In a separate development, one Russian soldier was wounded by a sniper shot near the town of Gnjilane yesterday. KFOR reported that the soldier had been wounded in a Russian camp in Robotov and was recovering in the Russian military hospital near Pristina. No information was available about the source of the attack.
