Eight masked individuals attacked participators of a gay and lesbian literature night and assaulted journalist and gay activist Mitja Blazic. The masked assailants, dressed in all black, shouted anti-gay slogans during the attack, which took place on Thursday night in a Ljubljana café called Open, in which the literary night was being held in honor of the traditional gay pride parade week. Blazic is the president of the Association for the Integration of Homosexuality and recently met with Slovenian Interior Minister Katarina Kresal, who promised that police would secure all safety measures needed for the pride parade to take place peacefully, adding that all possible violations at the parade will be sanctioned.
