Today, President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met with the Chief Prosecutor for the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Serge Brammertz.

The meeting started at 11:00 a.m. in the building of the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic on Andrićev venac, Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic announced earlier.The news about the meeting, as well as a photo of the conversation, was published on Instagram, on the "Buducnostsrbijeav" profile, by the President of Serbia.
The meeting discussed cooperation between the Mechanism and Serbia, the implementation of the national strategy for punishing war crimes, judicial cooperation between the countries of the region in relevant cases, as well as issues of finding missing persons.
The interlocutors assessed that Serbia's cooperation with the Residual Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals is good and that it is continuous with the efforts of both sides, and that joint programs in the form of training and other types of support were helpful in implementing the War Crimes Strategy in Serbia. President Vučić reiterated that Serbia, despite disagreements on some issues, will continue to treat this cooperation in a serious and responsible manner, with an emphasis on improving regional judicial cooperation, since our country is sincerely committed to contributing to reconciliation in this way within the region. Brammertz welcomed the role of Serbia in the field of regional efforts when it comes to punishing war crimes, assessing that our country was extremely transparent in terms of exchanging indictments and information on investigations, which greatly contributed to faster processing of certain cases. Vučić also exchanged views with Brammertz on the possibilities for making additional efforts in order to resolve the issue of missing persons as soon as possible, which would relieve regional relations to a certain extent.
President especially emphasized that Serbia has taken this issue extremely seriously from the very beginning, which it has shown through a series of activities, and which it expects from other parties, Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic announced earlier. Brammertz's visit to Serbia is planned as part of preparations for the submission of a regular biennial report to the UN Security Council, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts announced.
