Serbia has no open issues with Morocco, says PM
According to the Serbian government, the prime ministers of Serbia and Morocco said that in the year that marks six decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, "bilateral relations are excellent and without open issues."This first of all is related to political relations, but there is also room for the further strengthening of economic cooperation and commodity exchange.
Brnabic "underlined that the Republic of Serbia greatly appreciates the principled position of the Kingdom of Morocco on the respect for international law, and therefore of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as the opposition of that country to the membership of so-called Kosovo in UNESCO and other international organizations."
The interlocutors "agreed that cooperation in regional and international organizations is crucial for stability and security, peaceful resolution of all disputes, because this is a prerequisite for any kind of development."
The two officials highlighted the need for improving economic and trade cooperation between Serbia and Morocco. Information technologies and communications, tourism, agriculture, construction, electricity, pharmacy and chemical industries have been highlighted as particularly important areas for development of cooperation.
Othmani said he was confident that Brbabic, "since she worked in the economy prior to joining the government and has a lot of experience in attracting investments, could play an important role in improving economic relations and trade between the two countries."
Brnabic "welcomed the recent return of the Kingdom of Morocco into the membership of the African Union, as well as the country's large contribution to South-South Cooperation program aimed at developing countries of the African continent."
Othmani said that Morocco sees Serbia as a very important country in the region and expects the acceleration of the European integration process, confirming that his country is committed to developing and improving cooperation with all countries of southeastern Europe.
Brnabic "pointed out that we are monitoring and highly appreciating the reform processes, as well as the very important role that His Excellency Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco, plays in them."
