Hashim Thaci sworn in as Kosovo's president
Opposition members of the assembly boycotted the ceremony today, while those from the Srpska (Serb) List attended, Serbian state broadcaster RTS is reporting.Radio Free Europe said that the text of Thaci's oath of office states he would dedicate all his forces to "preservation of Kosovo's independence and sovereignty and territorial integrity," as well as to securing human and civil rights and laws, respect and protection of the Constitution and laws, preservation of peace and the wellbeing of all citizens.
RTS reported that in his address to the assembly Thaci said that "Serb and Albanian peoples have a bitter past but should turn to the future," and that dialogue with Belgrade "has no alternative," while "Kosovo will work on constructive relations with Serbia."

During the ceremony on Thursday several persons, "most likely opposition supporters," gathered in front of the assembly and used slingshots to pelt the building with stones, breaking several windows.
The police intervened and dispersed them, RTS said.
