The latest round of the talks between Belgrade and Pristina ended just before noon on Friday with an agreement on Kosovo's regional representation. The teams also agreed on a technical protocol on joint management of administrative crossings. We fulfilled all EU conditions, negotiator says "We have reached an agreement that is entirely in line with our interests,” Belgrade team chief Borislav Stefanovic stated visibly pleased. “The regional representation agreement states that an asterisk will be put next to Kosovo's name and a footnote saying that the name does not imply Kosovo's status and is in accordance with Resolution 1244 and the opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding Kosovo's declaration of independence,” he explained. "Pristina's request to include a special reference to the Kosovo declaration of independence in the footnote was not accepted," the team chief noted. “The content of the footnote is fully in line with the Serbian national interest, Constitution and Resolution 1244,” he stressed. "I want to share with you my satisfaction over the successful outcome of these hours and days of diplomatic battle," Stefanovic remarked. “It is clear now that all the criteria set by the European Council for Serbia to get the EU candidate status have been fulfilled,” he added. "It is now up to the EU and its member states to decide based on the conclusions of the council," Stefanovic stated. “This latest round of the talks resulted in the completion of the requirements to establish freedom of movement, agree on the implementation of the administrative crossings agreement and the most important one, to reach an agreement on Kosovo's regional representation,” the lead negotiator concluded.
