The Serbian Health Insurance Fund has signed a contract to purchase swine flu vaccines from Swiss company Novartis, it has been announced. Serbia will buy three million anti-AH1N1 virus shots. The vaccines will cost RSD 799 (EUR 8) per unit. Serbia expects the delivery of 500,000 vaccines by mid-December, officials said. The remaining 2.5 million doses will be delivered on Jan. 30, Feb. 27 and March 20, 2010. The first to be inoculated will be children over six months old, pregnant women after the first trimester, patients suffering from chronic diseases, and health and public service workers. Meanwhile, a total of 279 cases of swine flu infections have been confirmed in Serbia, with nine deaths, the Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut stated on Friday. (Beta)
