BRUSSELS There are reasons for optimism when it comes to the EU integration, advisor to the Serbian president Marko Djuric stated in Brussels on Saturday. According to him, a great progress has been made in the dialogue with Pristina in the past eight months. Presidential advisor: Serbia has reason for optimism “President Tomislav Nikolic and government’s efforts to solve the relations with Pristina are a topic that is discussed at almost every panel. As long as the talks are underway there is a reason for optimism,” Djuric said at a forum in Brussels. Commenting on EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton’s statement that an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina was possible, he stressed that a great step forward had been made in the last eight months, that room for direct communication with the Pristina authorities had been made and that Serbia had presented concrete proposals that were being seriously considered. “The fact that we are talking about a community of Serb municipalities as a completely legitimate and generally accepted concept today illustrated how important it is to have an active approach to everything, instead of waiting for others to bring us solutions,” the president’s advisor told Tanjug. He pointed out that it was very important that Serbia had its representatives at the Brussels forum because ideas were being presented based on which important decisions in Europe and the rest of the world would be made.
