President expects Dačić to seek mandate
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić said late on Wednesday that he expect Ivica Dačić to ask to be granted a mandate to form Serbia's new government.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said late on Wednesday that he expect Ivica Dacic to ask to be granted a mandate to form Serbia's new government. The president explained that he expected this to happen "as soon as tomorrow (Thursday)". President expects Dacic to seek mandate "I think things have been developing fast while I was away (abroad), and there are indications that Dacic could come to me tomorrow with proof that a parliamentary majority had been formed, and ask for a mandate to put together a government," Nikolic told state broadcaster RTS. B92 learned unofficially this evening that "one of the scenarios" will be for Dacic to seek and receive his mandate on Thursday, and then "go to his party and seek support for a coalition with the Progressives". The media in Belgrade have been speculating throughout the day that Dacic's Socialists (SPS) would base a government on an alliance with the Progressives (SNS) - a party led by Nikolic until his election as Serbia's president. Together, the two parties and their pre-election coalitions have 117 seats in the country's new parliament. At least 126 MPs must vote in favor for a new cabinet to be elected.
