Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said in Belgrade today that, in future, the majority of job vacancies would be in the private, as opposed to public, sector. Opening an International Conference on Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (SMB), Dinkic said that bureaucracy and cumbersome administration procedures were the major obstacle to development of the private sector, which, he said, would be remedied by the “guillotine of law.“ "New jobs in private sector, not public" “SMBs are the engine for employment and economic development,“ said the minister, adding that this conference would look at how to maintain the development of SMBs at a time of international crisis. According to Dinkic, the future for SMBs was in association, in creating clusters, primarily in the car industry, but also in the wood-processing and textiles sectors. “It’s vital for Serbia to speed up its EU integration, as this brings in more money, knowledge and better quality of goods for consumers,“ he said. Commenting on the ever more clamorous debate on salaries in the public sector, the minister said that the real issue was not cutting salaries, but red tape. Mladjan Dinkic (Beta, archive)
