Albania’s Prime Minister Sali Berisha has apparently been caught threatening an opposition deputy on tape. The incident is alleged to have occurred during a parliamentary session in the early hours of Tuesday. Albanian PM "threatens politician" in tape The tape purportedly shows Socialist deputy Taulant Balla claiming there is a rift within the Berisha family because the Prime Minister’s daughter wanted to become a minister. As Balla continued his speech which was specifically related to the supplementary budget, Berisha lashed out at him. “What will happen to you sister, a lowlife, a prostitute in motels will end,” the Prime Minister is heard telling Balla. Then the argument escalates and parliamentary speaker Jozefina Topalli, orders the National Guard serviceman to throw Balla out. Topalli also warns Balla that he will never set foot in parliament again. Balla was later suspended for two weeks from parliamentary sessions. Balla also alleges that Berisha that threatened to kill him in the exchange of words – although this cannot be heard in the tape.
