Previously, media reported that "persons wearing balaclavas" on April 25 "demolished buildings and mistreated citizens" in an area on the corner of Belgrade's Hercegovacka and Mostarska streets.

Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic also pointed out to the case, and later posted on Twitter about anonymous threats that he received as a consequence.

On Wednesday, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali said the city had nothing to do with the demolition, and that "nobody has yet determined" who was involved - adding that he will not interfere in the work of investigative organs, who should find out what happened.

Asked whether this part of Savamala was included in the Belgrade Waterfront project, Mali said that "building is not envisaged there," but added that "the area is a space that will belong to Belgrade Waterfront."
