Cold wave, first heavy snowfall of season hit Serbia

The snow that was falling during the weekend will stop for a time today, except in eastern and southeastern parts of the country. In will resume from time to time in the second half of the day, and then turn into rain that will freeze on the ground.

Morning temperatures ranged from -12 to -5 degrees Celsius, while the daily range will be from -7 to 0.

Belgrade will also have clouds and wind, snow around the noon, and freezing rain in the evening and overnight, with the highest daily temperature of -4 degrees.

The public company Putevi Srbije (Roads of Serbia) announced on Monday morning that all first and second category roads in the country are open and that no delays have been reported.

Drivers, especially those of buses and trucks, have been urged to drive carefully and not attempt to overtake other vehicles under these weather conditions.

555 trucks and 327 other machines have been deployed in clearing the roads, the company's director, Zoran Drobnjak, said.
