Serbia asks Greece for "explanation" of Kosovo statement

"We have sent a request to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the positions of their minister. I expect that in spite of the great pressure suffered by Greece, it will not change its stance not to recognize the unilaterally proclaimed independence (of Kosovo)," Dacic said.

He added such a move would not be in line with international law, nor the friendly relations between the two countries.

The paper contacted the Greek embassy in Belgrade for comment, and was told that "the statements made by Minister Kotzias in Pristina were clear."

"Greece does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and the Greek position on this issue remains unchanged," the embassy said.
