"Our desire is to do that by the end of the year, but even if it takes place in the first quarter of next year, it is a serious move forward,” Mihajlovic said, responding to a reporter's question at the Belgrade airport.

The minister said that only service to New York was planned for now, but flights to other U.S. cities would be considered as well.

She pointed out that the Serbian government had agreed and adopted the agreement with the U.S. government and it was now only a matter of time before the two countries sign it, adding that it was a matter of protocol.
