The CoE Committee of Ministers has published a report on the supervision of the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights for 2014.

ECHR rulings in 2014 to cost Serbia EUR 2.7mn

In 2013, the sum was around EUR 1.65 million.

Statistical figures from the report show that Serbia paid damages on time in 15 cases in 2014, and in 26 cases in 2013.

Damages were not paid on time in 27 cases in 2014 and in two cases in 2013.

As regards cases where Serbia failed to submit the required reports on payment of damages, there were 93 such cases in 2014, and 41 in 2013.

According to the report, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will step up the supervision of the execution of judgments in four cases - the Alisic case (frozen foreign exchange deposits), the Grudic case (payment of Kosovo pensions), the case of EVT (a predominantly socially-owned company) and the Zorica Jovanovic case (disappearance of babies from maternity wards).
