Democratic Party official arrested on corruption charges

Three more persons have been detained on suspicion that they caused EUR 4 million damages to the budget of the city of Novi Sad.

The suspects committed a number of crimes that enabled the company Borovica Transport to gain EUR 4 million in illegal profit, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

The police and officials of the Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime continue to investigate public procurements by the public enterprise, and other public enterprises, the statement said.

Novaković was arrested last year along with seven other persons on suspicion that they conspired to illegally gain EUR 1.3 million through building land fraud.
