The police are yet to discover "who and why carried out this operation," said the article.

The most affected is the road leading from Podgorica to the Morača Monastery, from which the thieves stole 48 signs, followed by the Cetinje-Budva road (30), Podgorica-Danilovgrad (10), Podgorica-Petrovac (23).

Crnagoraput's Željko Peruničić told the newspaper the company's patrols have been counting the missing signs "for days," and stressed that "huge damage was done, and traffic safety jeopardized."

"The problem now is how to get and install these signs again. Our company has reported everything to the police, we went to some recycled materials lots, but we have not found the signs," Peruničić said.
