The traditional three-day seminar gathering Serbian language students from foreign universities started at the Belgrade Faculty of Philology on Monday.

Serbian language students from abroad meet in Belgrade

The goal of the seminar is to spread knowledge of the Serbian language, literature and history, but also to gain friends for the Serbian people and country, head of the Center Professor Dragana Mršević-Radović said while opening the event.

The participants of the seminar will hear lectures about the Serbian language, literature and culture during their stay, as well as have the opportunity to attend optional specialist courses of modern Serbian language and literature and a course in national songs and dances.

The participants will also visit a number of scientific and cultural institutions, the Museum of the City of Belgrade, the Ethnographic Museum, the Military Museum, the Fresco Gallery and the Museum of Nikola Tesla.

Besides that, they will visit the monasteries Hopovo, Manasija and Tronoša, the city of Valjevo and the nearby village of Brankovina in western Serbia, known for several famous figures from Serbia's history, and will also travel to the birthplace of Serbian language reformer Vuk Karadžić, and to Novi Sad, where they will learn about the cultural heritage of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
