BELGRADE President Tomislav Nikolic says the country "can have a better government," adding that early parliamentary elections "would benefit the citizens, as well." The reason is that they would "vote into office those whom them most wish to see there," he said. President: Serbia can have better government “I think that new elections would secure much greater strength for one political party, which would give a new prime minister,” Nikolic told the Belgrade-based TV Prva, adding that the current coalition government was set up a year and a half ago out of necessity. The president believes that the coalition government, with the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) as the leading party and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader as prime minister, "could function further." But he added that it is expected that the strongest party after new elections should appoint prime minister. “I think that this is one of serious arguments. If there are disagreements, then harmony cannot be created between a small and a big party, if the power is not proportional to the number of votes they won in the elections,” the president said. Kako prenosi TV Prva, Nikolic je rekao da ga je iznenadila rekonstrukcija vlade, da ima odredjene zamerke na pojedine ministre i da o tome govori i predsedniku Vlade, i prvom potpredsedniku. Nikolic also told the television outlet that he was "surprised by the government reshuffle," that was completed in September, that he had "some objections to some ministers, and that he spoke about this with the prime minister, and his first deputy - i.e., Ivica Dacic and Aleksandar Vucic. But the president noted that his objections regarding the ministers "are not yet formal, official," and revealed he "did not like that the new ministers do not accept anything that the previous ones were doing."
