EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton welcomed on Thursday the progress made concerning the preparations for the upcoming local elections in Kosovo.

BRUSSELS EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton welcomed on Thursday the progress made concerning the preparations for the upcoming local elections in Kosovo. "The high representative welcomes the progress made this week in Pristina and Belgrade concerning the preparations for the November 3 elections, in particular the decisions of the Central Electoral Commission and the registration throughout Kosovo of many parties and entities," Ashton's office stated in a release. EU's Ashton welcomes progress in vote preparations "These are good steps forward for ensuring fair elections with participation from all the communities in Kosovo," the release reads. "The municipal elections of November 3 represent a milestone for the future of Kosovo and for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina," she noted, calling on all parties to show good will and continue to work hard on preparing the electoral process. As previously nnounced earlier, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci will meet at the EU high representative's office in Brussels on Sunday afternoon.
