MOSCOW, BELGRADE The Higher Court in Belgrade ruled to seize the property in Serbia belonging to Boris Berezovsky - but this decision has been overturned. The court acted based on a request sent by the Russian State Prosecution, and ruled in favor of seizing the late Russian oligarch's assets, but the Court of Appeals annulled the ruling and ordered the case to be considered again. This is according to Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Zviagintsev, quoted by Russian news agencies. At the request of the Russian Public Prosecutor's Office, seven companies were seized in Serbia which belonged to Boris Berezovsky and their value totals RUB 9 billion (some USD 300 million), RIA Novosti quoted Zviagintsev. The lawyer representing Berezovsky told Interfax that he does not have the information about the seizure of property. Zviagintsev did not list the companies which have been seized. The Russian Prosecutor's Office so far confiscated Berezovsky's property in Russia and managed to have his assets seized in Ukraine and the Balkans as well. In late March, Berezovsky was found dead in his villa in Britain where he committed suicide, according to the information available to the public. Several courts in Russia sentenced Berezovsky in absentia to a number of years in prison for extortion, fraud, overstepping his official duties and money laundry. Court of Appeals overturns decision on Berezovsky property

Earlier today, reports said that the Serbian government fulfilled the request of the Russian Prosecutor's Office and seized the property of Berezovsky.

This is according to Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Zviagintsev, quoted by Russian news agencies.

At the request of the Russian Public Prosecutor's Office, seven companies were seized in Serbia which belonged to Boris Berezovsky and their value totals RUB 9 billion (some USD 300 million), RIA Novosti quoted Zviagintsev.

The lawyer representing Berezovsky told Interfax that he does not have the information about the seizure of property.

Zviagintsev did not list the companies which have been seized.
