LEPOSAVIC Firefighters are still struggling to put out three fires near the southwestern Serbian town of Priboj. Strong wind is hindering efforts to put out the flames. Around 60 hectares of forest have caught fire in the municipality of Leposavic in northern Kosovo. Wildfires in southwestern Serbia, Kosovo Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector’s Dragan Doncevski said that there had been four fires near Priboj on Saturday but that one had been extinguished. “The firefighting continues in the remaining three locations – Jarmovac, Celice and Crni Vrh, but the strong wind is blowing and making it harder,” he added. “The fire near the village of Boracane in the northern Kosovo municipality of Leposavic spread over night to 60 hectares of forest,” Leposavic Municipal Council member Zoran Milojevic told Tanjug. He noted that the wind a difficult terrain were preventing the fire crews from localizing the fire.
