Serbian athletes that will compete in the summer Olympics departed for London on Tuesday, on a Jat Airways charter flight from Belgrade.

BELGRADE Serbian athletes that will compete in the summer Olympics departed for London on Tuesday, on a Jat Airways charter flight from Belgrade. President of the Serbian Olympic Committee Vlade Divac was at the head of the team of nearly 120 athletes. Serbia's Olympic athletes depart for London "The feeling is great, because the day of departure for London is finally here after 4 years. We go in a positive mood, to cheer for each other, represent the country in the best way possible and achieve good results," Divac told Tanjug at the airport. He stressed in particular the excellent atmosphere that awaited the Serbian athletes once in London. "More athletes arrive every day. Any day now it will become the Olympics in the true sense of the word, with a lot of camaraderie, support and fair play. I hope the Serbian athletes are going to achieve their goals," Divac underlined. The Serbian team that went to London on Tuesday included the water polo team, tennis players, men's and women's volleyball teams, handball team, swimmers, cyclists, judo fighters, rowers and table tennis players. Serbia will have 115 athletes in London, competing in 15 sports. The Olympic Games in London will be held from July 27 to August 12. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Monday hosted Serbia's Olympic teams headed by Vlade Divac, chairman of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, and wished them luck at the games in London. Nikolic presented the athletes with the Serbian national flag which tennis player Novak Djokovic will carry at the opening ceremony on Friday. "Qualifying for the Olympics is a big success in itself, and I hope you will make us happy as you have in the past. I hope you will bring us medals so we will have something to celebrate.
