Foreign diplomats have requested from Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga to allow OSCE to organize Serbian parliamentary and presidential elections in Kosovo. According to Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore, “the lack of legal basis is preventing OSCE from organizing the Serbian elections”. The Kosovo Presidency, however, will not allow the elections to be organized if the request is not filed. The daily writes that OSCE expects the Kosovo institutions to file the request while the Kosovo Presidency, which decides on elections in Kosovo, expects OSCE to file the official request. Kosovo Presidency’s Spokesman Arber Vlahiu has repeated that the Kosovo president has not received an official request to hold the Serbian elections. The Kosovo authorities have already stated that they will prevent the local elections from being held. Even some Belgrade officials have said that the local elections should not be held in Kosovo if UNMIK was against the idea.
