Government media office head Milivoje Mihajlovic said Wednesday that the state policy towards Kosovo has not changed. The call of President Boris Tadic to Serbs in northern Kosovo to withdraw from the roadblocks is very rational, said he. Official: State policy on Kosovo unchanged The call was addressed to KFOR and Serbs and is very rational, Mihajlovic told B92 TV. The roadblocks were aimed at preventing the establishment of Pristina institutions in the north and to initiate dialogue, and they are no longer needed, he said. He said that Kosovo Serbs know best how to defend their interests, recalling that in the municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija, 658 people demanded medical aid after the incidents since July 26, and that there might be more casualties. Mihajlovic dismissed the possibility of a new operation Storm happening in Kosovo and pointed out that no one can deny the right of Serbs in Kosovo to survival. He at the same time stressed that the authorities cannot be inactive if there is an attack on Serbs because the lives of people, as well as the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, must be more important than membership in the EU and the candidate status. Serbia cannot keep integrity and sovereignty without the Serbs in Kosovo, Mihajlovic said, adding that the situation is rather volatile at roadblocks and that some parties in KFOR want incidents.
