Dacic in Berlin, talks about Serbia's energy policy

There is only one entrance (from Hungary) and limited capacity, which is not enough from the point of view of energy security and market development, he said.

Serbia is worried if announcements about the cessation of the gas flow from the direction of Ukraine come true. Therefore, we are paying great attention to all projects that can provide our country with stable supply of energy, Dacic pointed out.

He stressed that the current preoccupation of Serbia is the construction of a two-way gas interconnector with Bulgaria and the capacity building of the Banatski Dvor gas storage facility, but we expect that the South Gas Corridor, as well as the Turkish Stream project, will be a chance for Serbia to provide sustainable gas supply.

Political differences should not be the reason for interfering with projects that bring benefits to a wider circle of countries and regions. The withdrawal of South Stream is particularly unfavorable for Serbia, he said.

He added that it is a strategic priority to carry out an energy transition that will enable the use of "clean technologies" and a greater share of renewable energy sources.

This requires huge financial resources, but I believe that only quality programs and projects, joint action and solidarity of all of us can turn this challenge into a development and investment opportunity, underlined Dacic.
