Moscow: EU should fix new Kosovo mess, this is trade war

The Russian Foreign Ministry (MFA) has reacted to<a href="https://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2018&mm=11&dd=22&nav_id=105579" class="text-link" target= "_blank"> Pristina raising the duties to goods from central Serbia sold in Kosovo by 100 percent.</a>

Moscow: EU should fix new Kosovo mess, this is trade war

"On November 22, the 'government' of Kosovo, in violation of obligations arising from the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), announced the introduction of duties in the amount of 100 percent against goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina," the comment published on the MFA website said, and added:

"In fact, we are talking about the beginning of Pristina's '"trade war' in line with the policy of ethnic cleansing, because the Serbian population of the region is largely dependent on supplies from the central part of Serbia."

"It is noteworthy that Pristina does not hide the fact that it is a question of 'the revenge for th defeat' the day before, when the Kosovo application for membership in this organization was rejected at the Interpol General Assembly," the statement added.

"The European Union as a mediator in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is under obligation to influence the Kosovo authorities and to achieve the immediate abolition of this illegal decision, which is fraught with a serious aggravation of the situation in the Balkans," the Russian MFA said.

Moscow further describes Pristina's provocation as yet another unequivocal piece of evidence of the failure of "Kosovo's statehood."

"Already ten countries have withdrawn their decisions to recognize Kosovo," the statement remarked.

"We note the moderate and balanced reaction of Belgrade to the events, and their desire to relieve tensions," Moscow concluded.
