PM meets with IMF mission head

Brnabic and Roaf "agreed that outstanding financial results were achieved in the previous period, and that it is important to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability and to encourage sustainable growth of the economy."

Roaf "emphasized that in the past two days he has had constructive talks with Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and that concrete agreements have been reached that will be implemented in the new program."

According to the government, it was also emphasized during the meeting that the reform of the Tax Administration is one of the priorities of the government of Serbia, which will ensure better cooperation with the economy.

Roaf added that the relevant ministries are committed to implementing public sector wage reform and that it is important to implement the reform as soon as possible.

Roaf stressed that the IMF recommends using the fiscal space in the budget for public investments, but that it is possible to reduce the tax burden on the economy, and that this will be discussed in more detail in September, during the next visit by the delegation of that financial institution.

He also pointed out that a great success for Serbia was a low inflation rate, which in April amounted to 1.1 percent.

Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government were also present at the meeting.
