Three more victims of freezing reported in south

Two men have died overnight in a village near the town of Gadzin Han from exposure to the cold, Serbia's state broadcaster RTS reported on Tuesday morning.

Three more victims of freezing reported in south

The victims, a father and a son aged 88 and 64 from the village of Duga Poljana, died in the yard of their home. A man from a neighboring village who was bringing them groceries found the bodies this morning and alerted the police.

The two men, named as Miroslav and Ilija Mitic, were both on welfare.

The police and representatives of the prosecution were investigating the scene on Monday. According to the RTS report, "no elements indicating a criminal act" have been detected.

On Monday, a man broke his leg in the town of Vranje, also in southern Serbia, and subsequently froze to death.

On Tuesday morning, the doctors in Vranje said that a 58-year-old man from the village of Stresak died this of cardiogenic shock after he was brought to hospital on Monday by rescuers in a serious condition and with numerous frostbites on his body.
