According to forecasts, the snow will also fall elsewhere in the country - from Novi Sad, Nis, to Pristina.

Freezing rain is expected in the low-lying areas of western and central Serbia, the Hydro-Meteorological Institute (RHMZ) has warned.

This snow, however, is unlikely to remain on the ground for long, as it will be mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging from 2 to seven 7 Celsius on Wednesday.

Thursday will be colder, dry in northern and eastern areas, with snow in places elsewhere.

Friday and Saturday will be mostly windy and dry, while the clouds and the snow will make a return starting on Sunday.

The RHMZ on Tuesday also warned that air temperatures would plunge to minus 15 (minus 22 on mountains) toward the end of the week.
