"Izetbegovic now under scrutiny of U.S. secret services"

The newspaper's sources said the closest associates of the new U.S. president stated even during the election campaign that the United States would place the Muslim Brotherhood on the list of terrorist organizations.

"Trump's foreign policy adviser Walid Phares recently said that Trump will, as one of his first moves, declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Accordingly, U.S. intelligence and security agencies have already started thorough checks of all those who have been involved with this organization in any way," the newspaper quoted its sources as saying.

Security expert Predrag Ceranic believes that Izetbegovic's "socializing" with Yusuf al-Qaradawi and his supporters might now come back to haunt him.

"It is no secret that the founder and ideologist of the Muslim Brotherhood was in the past a frequent guest in Sarajevo, and that his friendship with Bakir Izetbegovic was public until Egypt issued a red warrant for his arrest," said Ceranic.

According to him, Izetbegovic could be faced with "a real problem," considering that Trump repeatedly and publicly said that putting the Muslim Brotherhood on the list of terrorist organizations was a priority - "which puts Izetbegovic in an extremely disadvantageous position in future relations with the United States."

According to unofficial information, Yusuf al-Qaradawi has been living in Turkey for several years now, hiding from the arrest warrant issued by Egypt's authorities.

Al-Qaradawi was previously declared persona non grata in the United Kingdom and France, which suspect him of having links with terrorist organizations, reported RTRS, the public broadcaster of the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina, quoting EuroBlic.
