UK sends more soldiers to Bosnia - to prevent meddling

The UK will send 40 extra soldiers to Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), who will join the EU and NATO mission there.

Their goal is reportedly "to prevent Russian interference in the elections."

In its report, the Times noted that these elections are scheduled for October in BiH.

According to the London daily, British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson, who spoke at a meeting of NATO ministers of defense, confirmed that the soldiers will be deployed in BiH.

"This deployment demonstrates our commitment to making sure the elections in Bosnia are free and fair - and take place uninterrupted from malign external influence," said Williamson.
