This is Moscow's response to Kiev's ban on two Russian airliners - Aeroflot and Transaero - introduced earlier this month that will also take effect on October 25.

Ukraine also banned Russian planes from transiting its territory "if they are transporting military personnel or double purpose cargo."

Russia described Ukraine's decision as "a folly."

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on September 16 expanded the list of his country's sanctions against Russian companies and persons by adding 400 officials and 90 companies.
