UN chief condemns treatment of refugees at Hungarian border

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Wednesday he was shocked to see how refugees were treated at Hungary's border with Serbia.

Ban "underscored it is not acceptable," according to Tanjug.

He said that refugees and migrants in Europe should be treated with dignity and their human rights respected.

On Wednesday, Hungarian police fired tear gas and water cannons at refugees from the Middle East scrambling to reach Western Europe.
