Russians plan to offer region "Tesla Pipeline" - daily

According to a source, it is expected that foreign ministers "of Balkan countries and Greece" will meet in September and make a final decision on extending Turkish Stream.

The Tesla pipeline - named after Serbian-American engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla - would have annual capacity of 27 billion cubic meters of gas and would be completed by 2019 - if approved by all sides.

The article noted that Greece could also build an extension to Italy.

Turkish Stream, meanwhile, is planned to have annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters, and should be built from Russia, under the Black Sea, to Turkey. It will extend to a hub on the Turkish-Greek border, "from where it can continue toward Southern Europe," Vedomosti said.

Turkish Stream was announced in the wake of Russia's decision to scrap South Stream "due to the EU's unconstructive attitude toward its realization."

Gazprom said at the time that European customers who want to receive Russian gas supplies will have to build their own infrastructure from Turkey - considering that they hindered the realization of South Stream. However, this latest idea seems like a concession of the Russian company "toward buyers in Western Europe," said the report, quoted by Tanjug.
