Assange’s lawyer threw down the gauntlet directly to the Swedish Director of Public Prosecutions. Mark Stephens said: ‘I challenge you Marianne Ny. Come to London, come on Friday, subject yourself to the cross examination.’ The 39-year-old Australian has infuriated Washington by releasing thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic cables on his website.
