"As a gate to Belgrade and to Serbia, the airport has joined the state's initiative to enliven the cult of the flag," said the airport's executive director, Senka Jelenkovic.

"As you can see, the flag is imposing, it is 72 sq meters in size (12 by 6 meters), displayed on a 25-meter pole," she said.

The same size flags were raised in three locations at the airport today: near the airport building - opposite the air traffic control tower; opposite the customs depot, and near the runway.
