Serbia tops World Cup qualifying group after draw with Wales

Serbia's national football team drew 1-1 with Wales at home in Belgrade in Sunday's Group D, Round 6 match of the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

In front of over 40,000 spectators at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, Wales took the lead in the 35th minute through an Aaron Ramsey penalty, while Aleksandar Mitrovic equalized in the 73rd minute, Tanjug has reported.

Serbia and Ireland remain at the top of Group D with 12 points each, followed by Wales (8), Austria (8), Georgia (3) and Moldova (2).

In the next round, Serbia will play against Moldova at home, the Irish team will travel to Georgia, while Wales and Austria will clash in Cardiff.

All games will be played on September 2.
