Rio Paralympics close, Serbia claims nine medals

The 15th Paralympic Games ceremonially closed in Rio de Janeiro early Monday, with Serbia claiming a record nine medals.

The country finished 31st in the overall medal table.

Team Serbia won three gold medals (Laslo Suranji - men's shooting, Borislava Peric- Rankovic - women's table tennis, Zeljko Dimitrijevic - men's club throw), two silver medals (Peric-Rankovic and Nata Matic - women's table tennis, Milos Mitic - men's club throw), four bronze medals (Suranji - men's shooting, Matic - women's table tennis, Mitar Palikuca - men's table tennis and Nemanja Dimitrijevic - men's javelin).

China tops the table with 237 medals, including 105 gold medals, followed by Great Britain with 147 (64 gold medals), Ukraine with 117 (41 gold medals) and the United States with 122 (40 gold medals).
