The bus previously collided with a passenger car, Serbia's state broadcaster RTS has reported.

Milorad Manojlovic, whose house was damaged in the accident, said he was sitting only meters away from the wall through which the bus crashed.

"I was covered in bricks, furniture. When I came to, I heard children screaming in the bus, I ran out barefoot, and we tried to pull them out," he said.

The owner of the bus, the public company GSP Beograd, issued a statement saying they were saddened to hear that the children they were transporting were injured, but noted that the driver was not to blame.

According to the company, the driver of the passenger car that collided ran a stop sign and smashed into the bus at great speed, which resulted in the bus veering off the road and crashing into the house.
