The Boeing 777/300R plane with 300 passengers and crew was rerouted to the Serbian capital after an unattended cellphone was discovered onboard flight TK1979.

The Turkish carrier announced on Thursday afternoon that "security checks were in progress."

Later in the day, the company said that no explosives were found on board the aircraft and that it had resumed its flight.
