He at the same time thanked Serbia for marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day every year and for honoring the victims.

“On this day, the civilized world remembers the horrendous agony that the Jewish people went through during the Holocaust,” Levy told Tanjug at Staro Sajmiste (Old Fairgrounds)

, where he attended a commemorative event held at the site of the former concentration camp complex.

Speaking about the future memorial complex at Staro Sajmiste, Levy believes that there is a sincere wish to make this happen.

“This is very important and I am sure that the memorial center will be completed,” the ambassador said, noting that it would honour the memory of Serbian and Jewish WWII victims.
