Migrants transiting Serbia determined to cross into Hungary

Our crew joined one group and walked with them.

Soon after, our reporters saw several young men coming back, and the reason quickly became apparent:

"It's because it's swarming with police. We cannot cross to the other side," one of them said. Some refugees continue their journey toward the border, regardless. If the Hungarian police catch them, they will all be fingerprinted.

"If they ask for our fingerprints, we'll even agree to that, but if I can avoid it in any way, I will run away, because I want to continue my trip to Germany," a migrant called Mohammed told B92.

The 22-year-old man said he "left everything behind in Syria" when he dodged army draft. He said that if he were to go back - "his life would be over."

"I want to forget as soon as I can the the horrors I've seen in Syria. There's no life for us there any longer. If the Hungarian police turn me back, I'll try again and again - until I reach Germany," he said. On the way, our crew saw small groups of refugees hiding in the bushes along the railroad. They were waiting for the night to fall to continue toward the border.

"We plan to wait, to see what's going on. Most likely we'll wait for the night, and then move toward the border," an Afghan man said.

Finally, B92's crew, moving with a group of refugees, reached the fence on the border with Hungary. It was cut in the part where the railroad passes.

Here, our reporters found numerous foreign TV crews. An hour later, the Hungarian police showed up and ordered journalists to leave the border line.

The refugees remained there in their tents. As soon as the night falls, they will continue their journey.
