Obrenovac school rebuilt with EU funds

Davenport was presented with a letter of gratitude to the EU for the funds, totaling EUR 210,000, which it donated to rehabilitate and provide new equipment for the school.

Accepting the recognition, Davenport stressed that the reconstruction of the flood-damaged school is a joint success of the EU, the local self-government and the school employees.

Compared to other schools in Serbia, this one was affected most severely by the flooding and its reconstruction took more time, but I hope that better conditions that the school now offers will help its 1,300 students to achieve better results and higher grades, said Davenport.

The head of the EU Delegation to Serbia also visited the nearby Secondary School of Agriculture and Chemistry, which was also rehabilitated owing to the EU funds totaling EUR 70,000.

Davenport's visit to Obrenovac was organized on the occasion of St. Sava Day, which has been marked as the patron saint day of schools in Serbia since 1840.
