Train severs man's leg in accident at main station

A 47-year-old man lost his leg on Tuesday morning in an accident that happened at Belgrade's Main Train Station.

"The train cut off the man's leg under the left knee. An ambulance team treated the injured man on the scene and he was then taken to the Emergency Center for resuscitation," the center's spokeswoman, Nada Macura, told Tanjug.

Serbian Railways Media Center Director Nenad Stanisavljević explained that the accident happened when the victim attempted to jump onboard a moving train., but instead fell under it.

According to Stanisavljević, the train was traveling on the Belgrade-Niš line and was leaving the station.

According to Tanjug, the victim's condition was not life-threatening as of Tuesday afternoon.
