Children killed in collision on Belgrade-Niš highway

Two children died when a van with Dutch license plates and a car with French license plates collided on the Belgrade-Niš highway.

12 more people, three children among them, were injured.

According to this, they are all Turkish nationals and were brought to the hospital in Smederevska Palanka.

The accident happened at around 04:30 CET on Wednesday near the Velika Plana exit, with the cars traveling in the direction of Belgrade. The victims were aged three and ten, and held Dutch passports.

It is unclear from the reports this morning what caused the deadly collision. The highway was blocked and a long line of vehicles formed as the police investigated the scene, but traffic has returned to normal since.
