The citizens across Serbia will traditionally welcome the New Year at city squares, with a diverse music program, fireworks, mulled wine and plum brandy.

The citizens across Serbia will traditionally welcome the New Year at city squares, with a diverse music program, fireworks, mulled wine and plum brandy. In Belgrade, citizens will celebrate the New Year’s Eve with fireworks and a concert in front of the National Assembly, where performers will include bands Galija, Plavi Orkestar, Van Gog and singer Sergej Cetkovic. Serbia readies for New Year’s Eve celebrations A total of RSD 20mn was allocated from the city budget and sponsors for the New Year's Eve program under the slogan “Belgrade, the city of open heart”, which is RSD 4mn less than last year. At Liberty Square in Novi Sad, the audience will be entertained by Zvonko Bogdan, Bajaga i instruktori, Ana Perisic and Perpetuum mobile, as well as DJ Fanatik. Other Serbian cities will celebrate New Year in a similar manner, and in Jagodina workers on call at the most important state institutions will be awarded gold coins in the first minutes of 2012. The gold coins, have been awarded for seven years by the city of Jagodina to ambulance teams, firefighters, police officers and other teams on call, as well as to the first babies born in the New Year.
