No one was injured when a three-story apartment building burned down in the town of Leskovac, southern Serbia. MUP firefighters managed to evacuate all persons who were inside at the time of the accident, but reports said that "material damage caused by the blaze was high". The building, situated in an area known as "the labor settlement", was constructed using prefab panels that are flammable, according to reports. A man has been arrested on suspicion that his negligence caused the fire, said local police. In 1995, the building that burned down early this morning was declared unfit to live in, when a similar structure next to it also disappeared in flames. The tenants were given apartments elsewhere, but later squatters moved in. Firefighters from Leskovac, Nis and Doljevac took part in putting out the blaze. (B92)
