MUP: 40 pct less traffic accidents

Deputy Chief of MUP Traffic Police Vladimir Rebic says traffic accidents have decreased by 40 percent since the implementation of new traffic safety laws. The number of fatalities in traffic accidents was down by 20 percent, while the number of injuries decreased by 30 percent, Rebic said at the second national Parkon conference. MUP: 40 pct less traffic accidents In the first 90s days of the law's implementation, 120,000 violations were recorded, 25,000 of which were illegal parking and stopping violations. More than 100 municipal officials from the public and private sectors of parking services attended the conference. The main topic of the conference relates to changes in the traffic safety laws in relation to special measures and authorities for moving illegally parked vehicles. Directors and owners of parking services in Serbia gave their objections and issues with the new traffic safety law, who feel that some parts of the law were not specified well enough and can be interpreted in different ways.
